A few months ago a leaked version of the new OS 5.0 became available, and I excitedly downloaded it and installed it on my Curve 8330. I loved the changes from the OS 4.5 that came on my Curve, and at first it seemed to run great, but after installing a few applications, and using it for a few months I started to notice it getting very sluggish, and realized that the leaked OS was a memory hog. Well, all that has changed with the first release of an official OS 5.0 for the 8330 from Boost Mobile. I installed it on my phone as soon as I got home from work tonight, and I’m LOVING it! It’s much smoother than the leaked version, and I’ve even noticed a few little things that weren’t in the leaked version. The new OS, along with the Precision Zen theme from the 8520 (I think?) that I have loaded on there… it’s almost like a completely new phone.
Below is the announcement from CrackBerry.com –
Yesterday we noted that the Curve 8330 from Boost MobileĀ was shipping with OS 5.0.0.438, and now it looks like its officially available for download. 8330 users can jump over to the BlackBerry Software Downloads page and snag the latest update. If you’re not on Boost, just remember to delete the vendor.xml file before upgrading and you should be good to go. Glad to see that the 5.0 updates are floating in from various carriers, but as with most of you, yes I’m still wondering when we’ll see another official release for the TourĀ
